Determining Formulas for the Approximation of the Complete Elliptic Integrals| Chapter 3 | Current Topics on Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 8

This is a chapter from a book that was first published in the journal IMF in 2012. We provide evaluations of Legendre functions, which are quite generic, in section 2 of the chapter. As a result, in section 3, we present Ramanujan's type-1/ formulae for the two complete elliptic integrals K and E. These formulas represent a new manner of writing K and E that differs from the old method. In section 4, the major application, a formula for the constant (Gamma)((1/4)2)(pi-3/2), with an accuracy of around 120 digits per term, is given. Author (S) Details N. D.
