In the realm of intensive care medicine, extracorporeal blood purification techniques are becoming more common. These methods are used in a variety of clinical settings, including Sepsis, Trauma, Burns, Influenza, Surgery, Pancreatitis, ARDS, Life Support, and Liver Failure. The goal of this study is to give a broad review of the most disputed areas of clinical therapeutic help in neonatal and paediatric general and cardiothoracic surgery, as well as pre- and post-operative Intensive Care Unit therapies. This is a description based on protocols and experiments that have been published or are in the midst of being verified in the Neonatal and Pediatric General and Cardiac Anaesthesia and ICU at a Pediatric Hospital in Bari, Italy. Even if science is quick to provide clinicians with new gadgets and therapeutic aims, it is up to the clinicians to use them correctly or, at the very least, alternatively, always keeping the patient's best interests in mind.
