Determination of Thermal Runaway in Sealed Nickel-Cadmium Batteries | Chapter 5 | Challenges and Advances in Chemical Science Vol. 4

Thermal runaway happens in practically all electrochemical systems, including batteries. In the event of thermal runaway, the system housing the battery will surely fail. The goal of this research is to prove that sealed nickel-cadmium batteries have a thermal runaway mechanism. The study looked at a variety of experimental findings that show that the widely held belief about thermal runaway in nickel-cadmium batteries is inaccurate. The advent of a major exothermic process, particularly atomic recombination reactions The accumulation of hydrogen in the electrodes has been linked to thermal runaway. In sealed nickel-cadmium batteries, thermal runaway occurs ten times less frequently than in unpressurized batteries. Author (S) Details N. E.
