The intersection of rigid and non-rigid road pavement portions is a source of significant load. The creation of sinking in the road surface is caused by residual strain over time. Although this is not a major flaw in the road surface, it has a detrimental impact on driving comfort. This effect is not limited to road pavement that has been damaged by overloading. The lack of verification and quality control throughout work is not thought to be a contributing factor to the problem. It is based on internal physical processes that occur at the intersection of rigid and non-rigid road pavement portions under wheel loading. The topic of this article is the problem of non-rigid road pavement subsidence at the intersection of rigid and non-rigid road pavement sections.
