A Case Report on Delayed Diagnosis of Glioblastoma | Chapter 07 | New Horizons in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

  The clinical and radiological indications of a concomitant tumour may be hidden by the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. The goal of this study is to raise awareness about the dangers of delayed diagnosis by recounting the case of a patient who had a subarachnoid haemorrhage that hid the presence of a glioblastoma for several months. Only a few similar cases have been recorded in the literature: The therapy of two recent severe neurosurgical illnesses is discussed in this article. A Brief Review on Magnetic Resonance Imaging Versus Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Diagnosis of Periapical Pathosis | Chapter 06 | Innovations in Science and Technology Vol. 7

 Any dental pathology can be diagnosed in a variety of ways, from simple to challenging. While cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is commonly employed, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is still in the experimental stage. The goal of this review is to compare MRI and CBCT diagnostic ability in the diagnosis of periapical pathosis. Materials and Methods: From 2010 to 2020, a systematic search was undertaken utilising the electronic databases MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and Science Direct to locate relevant papers. The search terms were magnetic resonance imaging, cone beam computed tomography, diagnosis, and periapical illnesses. The total number of possibly relevant papers and titles detected was 3218. After duplicates were removed, 1288 publications were screened for titles and abstracts, and 29 were chosen for full-text reading. The terms human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) conjure up images of terror, social shame, pain, and, ultimately, death. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get a lab test. Blood is the most routinely utilised specimen for HIV testing. Plasma, serum, oral fluid, and urine are examples of other fluids that could be employed. Oral fluid has several advantages: it is safe to collect, the method is noninvasive and painless, infectious viruses in oral fluid are uncommon, making oral fluid samples more easily disposable, and a sufficient amount of oral fluid may be obtained. Rapid HIV testing based on oral fluid can be utilised instead of serum since the biological fluid can be studied for diagnostic purposes. From Sequence of Tumor Liberated Protein (TLP) to Potential Targets for Diagnosis and Therapy: Advanced Study | Chapter 6 | Innovations in Medicine and Medical Research Vol.2

A preliminary analysis of immunoprecipitation followed by Western Blotting (WB) shows corin and TLP precipitate at the same level (approximately 50 KDa) and are recognized by the same antibodies. In parallel the tests of immunoprecipitation were improved by the use of cell extracts derived from lung cancer cells A549 and NCI-H23 with the aim of obtaining a precipitate containing only the TLP. In fact the partial amino acid sequence of TLP shows a high homology with the sequence of human corin (only one amino acid is different) and is present in lung cancer under different isoforms. It is known that human corin is expressed mostly outside the cells and the protein extract derived from the extracellular medium and from the cells transfected with the plasmid, which over expresses corin, shows several bands analysed on SDS-PAGE that are equivalent to the bands (about 50-100 KDa) observed in the WB analysed by anti-TLP.
