Currently, metabolic syndrome is a medical and economic issue that affects almost every country. Millions of people worldwide are affected by obesity, which is one of its components. Numerous studies have found a link between high levels of the adipokine lipocalin 2 (Lcn2) in the blood and various aspects of the metabolic syndrome.
