Determining the Effect of Seasonal Variations on Fatty Acids Nutritional Profiles of Cow’s Milk Fat from Asturias. Spain | Chapter 3 | Current Approaches in Science and Technology Research Vol. 14
Seasonal and geographic influences on the fatty acid contents of cow's milk fat from Asturias (northern Spain) were investigated. Differences (p 0.05) were seen in the majority of the fatty acids studied. Only three fatty acids (iC14, iC16, and C18:1) did not show significant variations (p 0.05) with the seasonal or geographical factors due to the seasonal factor. Only the long chain fatty acids exhibited changes with the geographical area, while the short, medium, and long chain fatty acids showed differences with the seasonal component. Only the unsaturated fatty acids, however, differed (p 0.05) according to the season of the year and geographical location. Between the pairs of fatty acids C4-C12, C6-C10, and C10-C12, the coefficient of correlation revealed a strong linear link.
