A Brief Study on Sirtuins: An Approach to Novel Pharmacological Target | Chapter 17 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 13
The main purpose of this study is to figure out what role Sirtuins play in physiology and disease. Is it conceivable to discover sirtuins as a new pharmacological target that may be targeted with inhibitors or activators?
Natural products, semi-synthetic medications, synthetic drugs, and repurposing drugs like alpha lipoic acid, resveratrol, vitamin D3, GLP-1, DPP-4 inhibitors, gene therapy with apelin, Icariin, coumestrol, dietary fatty acids, melatonin, Honokiol, SRT1460, and others SIRT is a prospective target for metabolic, cardiovascular, neurological, neuropsychiatry, neurodegenerative, and diabetic complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, and retinopathy, among other diseases and catastrophic sequelae. Osteoporosis, bone problems, age-related changes, male and female infertility, obesity, and metabolic syndrome are all possible targets. SIRT inhibitors have the potential to be employed as anticancer drugs. However, only a few medicines with particular SIRT activators are being studied.
