Study on Anesthetic Implications during Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery | Chapter 13 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 7
Off-pump coronary artery bypass has become a prominent approach of coronary revascularization in order to reduce the risks of cardiopulmonary bypass. Good results necessitate surgical and anaesthetic skill. Newer minimally invasive techniques to off-pump coronary bypass surgery offer appealing alternatives to traditional off-pump surgery, particularly in terms of cosmetic results and early extubation. They necessitate effective perioperative pain treatment, with epidural and paravertebral blocks being viable options. Because emergency conversion of off-pump bypass to on-pump bypass is associated with poor outcomes, precautions should be taken to avoid it.
