Study on Synthesis, Spectral Characterization and in vitro Antibacterial Evaluation of Triaza and Dioxa Aza Spiro Derivatives | Chapter 7 | New Innovations in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 2
Mannich reaction and cyclo condensation were used to make the compounds 7,9-diphenyl-1,4-dioxa-8-azaspiro[4.5]decane 1-6. Elemental analysis, mass, IR, 1H,13C, and NMR studies were used to determine the structures and stereochemistry. Elemental analysis was used to verify the purity. By coupling constant values of 1H NMR, the synthesised compounds 1-6 adopt chair conformation with equatorial orientation of the aryl groups. Antibacterial activity against Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella oxytoca, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella paratyphi was tested on all of the compounds. In vitro antibacterial activity of compound 5 was excellent in all species.
