Design and Manufacture of Prograssive Tool by CAD/CAM Technique: A Descriptive Study | Chapter 03 | Novel Perspectives of Engineering Research Vol. 8
In modern industry, sheet metal forming deals with intricate geometries, and the forming process consists of multiple successive processes until the final shape is achieved. At each stage, the process sequence, die geometry, perform shape/blank shape, and process parameters are designed based on previous experience and trial and error.
Traditional
computer-aided design (CAD) systems have significantly decreased the burden of
human designers and the duration of the product design cycle.
This article
discusses CAD/CAM technology integration, maximising productivity through
automated industry specific processes in progressive die design software,
streamlining complex processes, and automating jobs for significant time
savings.
