A Study on Coronavirus and Nigerian Population; the Realities with Medical Laboratory Services| Chapter 14 | Issues and Development in Health Research Vol. 2

The pandemic of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has posed a challenge to the health systems of nations with advanced technologies and those with little or no technology in medical laboratory services, such as Nigeria. The goal of containing the pandemic is critical, and including a medical laboratory component is critical to bringing COVID-19 to an end. Between February 2020 and April 2021, the medical laboratory services improved from 5 to 78 centres, which is impressive. Using the 2016 National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) population number and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, this chapter investigated laboratory services in Nigeria in relation to the population. In terms of population, number of tests, and COVID-19 cases, the data shows that the federal capital territory (FCT) of Abuja, not Lagos, is the epicentre of COVID-19. In Nigeria, the COVID-19 cases may be skewed due to the availability of medical laboratory services. The reality is that, as of May 2021, fewer than 1% of Nigeria's existing population has been tested for COVID-19. As a result, it is recommended that medical laboratory services be extended to all Nigerian local government areas, beginning with Cross River, Jigawa, Kano, and Kogi states, which are still behind in terms of testing.

  The present study highlights about alkali element modification of glucose molecules as a method to dissolve cancer cells. The central regulation of the mechanisms governing cell proliferation has little effect on cancer cells.
