After childbirth, women face a variety of physical discomforts. One of them is abdominal afterpain, which is a sign of uterine involution (the process by which reproductive organs revert back into the pre-pregnant state). Because of the predominance of other types of pain and discomforts, afterpain often goes undiagnosed. This chapter is based on an original study that sought to determine the nature and features of postnatal moms' afterpain. This chapter aims to uncover the elements that influence afterpain, as well as mothers' experiences with abdominal afterpain and critical solutions for managing afterpain.
