Analytical Assay of Betamethasone Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms by Visible Spectrophotometry | Chapter 2 | New Innovations in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 2
By using visible spectrophotometry, two simple and repeatable techniques for determining betamethasone in pharmaceutical dosage forms have been devised and confirmed. Method 1 is based on the development of a meisenheimer-like sigma-complex by combining m-dinitrobenzene with the medication in an alkaline solution to produce a coloured chromogen with a 490nm wavelength. The Method-2 is based on the reaction of MBTH with the drug of interest in the presence of alkali to produce a coloured chromogen with a wavelength of 620 nm. The investigation's findings were statistically assessed, and recovery experiments confirmed that the offered procedures were correct. The methods were used to determine betamethasone in pharmaceutical formulations with great success.
