Assessment of Angle of Anterior Chamber with SDOCT in Patients Presenting to Tertiary Health Care Center: A Cross-sectional Study | Chapter 9 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 5
The goal of this study was to use anterior segment spectral
domain OCT (ASOCT) to examine the normative data of anterior chamber angle in
patients presenting to tertiary health care centres in central India.
Dimensions: 120 A cross-sectional study was conducted on consecutive patients
who presented to an ophthalmology outpatient department of a tertiary health
care centre. The patients were all subjected to a thorough visual examination.
Best corrected visual acuity, refraction, anterior segment examination with a
slit lamp, fundus examination, gonioscopy with a 3 mirror Goldmann contact
lens, IOP assessed with a Goldmann applanation tonometer, and OCT analysis of
the angle of the AC were all part of the ocular examination. The trial lasted
one year and six months. The institute's research and ethical committee gave
their approval to this work. It was decided to gain informed consent. SPSS 16.0
was used to analyse the data. The AS-OCT parameters were tested in normal
people in our study, and the results of 120 subjects were analysed. Females
(0.4175 m, 0.4613 m) had lower nasal and temporal AOD than males (0.4583 m,
0.4142 m). The anterior chamber angle (measured in degrees) and the anterior
chamber depth (ACD) were shown to be narrower and shallower in older adults in
this study (measured in millimeters). Conclusion: This is the first SD-OCT
study in Central India to provide normative data on anterior chamber
characteristics in healthy people. These normative values will aid in the
identification of patients with aberrant values that indicate anterior chamber anomalies.
