Environmental Criminology and the Paula Oberbroeckling Case | Chapter 13 | Innovations in Science and Technology Vol. 7
On July 11, 1970, Paula Jean Oberbroeckling, 18, left her Cedar Rapids apartment and never returned. She allegedly departed to perform an errand but did not return. In late November 1970, her body was discovered near the banks of the Cedar River. Paula's family has no idea what happened between the time she left her apartment and the time her body was discovered five decades later. The homicide remains an ongoing and unsolved case. This study uses environmental criminology as a strategy to discover individuals associated with the case who may be able to provide authorities with more information.
